Whether you’re out on a date or interviewing for a new job, your appearance greatly matters. It’s the first thing people see, even before you start talking. If you’re suffering from hair loss, it can be devastating, and in addition to taking a toll on your personal and professional life, it also takes a toll on your self-esteem and self-confidence. According to the American Hair Loss Association, hair loss in men is most commonly caused by androgenic alopecia, also known as male pattern baldness. This hereditary hair loss can stem from the father’s or mother’s side of the family and is characterized by hair loss on top of the scalp and a receding hairline. In men suffering from male pattern baldness, the lifespan of the hair follicles is shortened, and they eventually stop producing hair altogether.

The Artas Hair Transplant System

To successfully perform a hair transplant procedure, follicular unit extraction (FUE) from a donor area of the patient’s scalp must take place. Unlike a FUT strip hair transplant, Artas robotic hair transplants don’t require cutting into the back of the scalp to remove follicular units. Patients don’t have to get stitches or staples after removing the grafts. Follicular units are extracted one by one. The computerized system can dissect up to 500 grafts per hour. Although this might take a lot longer than the strip harvest method, it’s meticulous, less painful, and minimally invasive. There is pretty much no downtime. The Artas robotic system determines which hairs are optimal to use before harvesting them, and after the hairs are removed, the donor area still looks presentable. After undergoing a hair transplant using the Artas robotic hair transplant system, patients can wear their hair long or short because there won’t be any visible scarring. The older FUT system doesn’t allow patients to wear their hair short because the scars of the strip harvest would be visible.

Another method of hair restoration is with the use of a Neograft manually-operated system. This system uses a handheld harvesting tool that uses suction to remove follicular unit grafts. Houston Hair Transplant Center offers Neograft hair transplant, which delivers consistent results but is dependent on the speed and skill of the technician. ARTAS Robotic surgery is generally geared toward restoring the natural hairline and eliminating any balding areas. After the hair restoration procedure, it generally takes about three months before the new hair starts growing. In some patients, the growth occurs in stages, while others experience all of the growth early on after the transplant.

Using a skilled doctor to perform your hair transplant is essential to get the desired results. Our Hair Transplant Center is led by Dr. Jezic, a board-certified physician. Before undergoing any treatment, you must schedule a complimentary consultation. During the consultation, the doctor will perform a scalp evaluation and notify you of your options. If you’re not familiar with our center, make sure to visit the About Us section on our website. You’ll see that we have performed thousands of hair transplants, and our past patients included celebrities and CEOs. After using the FUE hair transplant system, friends and relatives will notice an improvement in your appearance, but unless you tell them, they most likely won’t be able to tell that it is because of a hair transplant treatment.

Again, at Houston Hair Transplant Center we do not currently offer the ARTAS hair transplant system. This page is for patient education only.
